STAY TUNED  FOR THE ROAD TO THE SCARLET GOSPELS

12/5/2015
In a very special series of retrospective reviews, Kit Power will be taking a look  at the books that formed the road to the release of Clive Barker's The Scarlet Gospels,   the book that has had every single fan of Clive Barker and Hellraiser biting their fingernails in anticipation.

The series will also feature multiple reviews of The Scarlet Gospels, from myself, George Lea, Kit Power, and Paul M. Feeney, and some guest articles from Maz Johnson and a few others.

This is going to be an epic series of posts to celebrate the launch of this much anticipated book.

Please comment on the articles and reviews, we would love to get a conversation going.

And If you would like to contribute an article to the series please drop us a line.

Really looking forward to this series. As a (pretty much) lifelong Barker devotee, I've been hotly anticipating this book for well over 20 years. The original is very different to Clive Barker's usual written body of work, but is so exquisite in its visceral nature, one of the most intense and extreme love stories ever written (with the possible exception of Cabal). In my "Book That Made Me" article from last year, I cited the cover image from the Hellraiser video as a seminal image and one that keeps on recurring throughout my life, from the back pages of a film rental catalogue to browsing the shelves of my local rental store and seeing that leering, snarling image of the man with the pins is indelibly imprinted on my soul. An image and story which has stayed with me a long time. Now, we have a new Pinhead tale which also involves Harry D'Amour, one of my all time favourite Barker characters (with the exception of Tesla Bombeck). I have high hopes for the sights that Barker is about to show me. Roll on May 21st!!
