THE HAUNTED CASINO
13/8/2014
THE HORROR CASINO As far as horror movies with a casino theme go, The Haunted Casino works pretty well. Sure, it’s only a B movie and went straight to DVD, but that’s not to say this niche gore-fest isn’t a great film to watch with friends on a Friday night fright-fest. The film is directed by horror extraordinaire, Charles Band and stars horror film veterans Sid Haig, Michael Berryman and sees young man Matthew Dragna inherit a rundown old casino from his recently deceased uncle. This sparks Matthew along with his girlfriend JJ and several of his other close friends to take a trip to the old building to check the place out. Unbeknownst to the oblivious explorers, the dilapidated old casino has actually been haunted for some time by former Las Vegas mobsters Roy Donahue and his henchman Gil Wachetta. As if these gangsters weren’t scary enough on their own, in ghost form and with a vengeance for their death, these spooky characters certainly send things awry for the casino’s latest visitors.
As it turns out, Matthew’s uncle was actually the man who killed these scary mobsters, so it’s no wonder they are seeking revenge! Donahue and Wachetta are after Matthew’s uncle’s silver – and they’re definitely not resting until they get it! It soon becomes clear to Matthew and his friends that they are in more than just a crumbling old building, and must play for their lives! So will Matthew or any of his friends manage to stay a step ahead of the game and survive a night in the haunted casino? The Haunted Casino has all the makings of a classic haunted house tale – but in a casino instead. It takes a while to lead up to the action, but once you get there, the rest of the 75 minute runtime is not for the easily spooked or faint of heart! If you’re a horror buff, you may recognise this premise from films such as Dead Man’s Hand and Casino of the Damned. That’s because this is the same film, re-released with a new title. No matter what the title though, after you give this film a watch you certainly won’t be running to visit a casino any time soon. Who knew such a bright place with flashing lights and laughter aplenty could become so dark and scary? That’s probably why it’s better to stick to casino sites. There’s no chance of all the haunting and gore, it cannot happen in casino sites – nobody can jump out and get you! So if you’re a casino fan you may want to stick to online apps and sites in the future if you intend to watch this terrifying film! Comments are closed.
