Throughout June and July, FIRST FEARS will be presenting six weeks of workshops, feedback sessions and more for horror writers, with a superb line-up of guest speakers allied with opportunities to get involved in one-to-ones and feedback sessions. FIRST FEARS is the brainchild of Alex Davis (Edge-Lit, UK Ghost Story Festival) and aims to offer aspiring horror authors the chance to learn from some of the UK’s leading horror talent, as well as getting tailored comment and advice to improve their work not only within the course of the programme but also far beyond. The guest workshoppers and sessions for the programme are as follows: Tim Major ON Plotting and Planning a Novel Georgina Bruce ON Writing Horror Short Stories Rhiannon Ward ON Atmosphere and Location James Brogden ON Writing Dark Fantasy Tracy Fahey ON Writing Folk Horror Stories Simon Bestwick – Topic TBC Alex Davis said: ‘I’m delighted to have gathered together such a great range of talent for these sessions, and can’t wait for the first running of the summer school. Horror doesn’t always get the most represented in the world of workshops, so I hope that this will be an exciting addition for emerging authors in the field, with a range of ticket prices to suit you depending on what you’d like to get out of the programme.’ Tickets for the event range from £65 for the ‘Silver Package’, taking in all six Guest Workshops, through to £130 for the ‘Platinum Package’.
