LITTLE NIGHTMARES: 5 CREEPY SCENES THAT GAVE YOU A REAL SCARE

Little Nightmares is one of the best horror games available for PC. The claymation graphics set in a strange cross between a Victorian gothic and industrial world was bizarrely unique. It wasn’t full of jumpscares like Amnesia or Outlast, but sets the creepy atmosphere through art direction and tense gameplay.


This focus on art and atmosphere earned Tarsier Studio much critical praise, and is in fact very similar to LittleBigPlanet also from Tarsier Studio, which also earned them a lot of praise.


Overall there are a lot of frightening moments to be found in Little Nightmares, but here’s the creepiest scenes that will definitely give you a bit of a scare.


When you run from The Janitor

With his long arms and bandaged face, The Janitor actually somewhat resembles the Crooked Man from The Conjuring. In the game, The Janitor is blind but can chase the player with his sense of hearing. Thus, players have to be very quiet when near The Janitor.


Avoiding him requires messing with his sense of smell and sound and creating distractions. However, even though he is blind, his elongated limbs allow him to easily reach out and snatch the player.


Escaping from The Janitor is rather tense as you may feel comfortable sneaking away from him, only to accidentally make a tiny noise that alerts him to your location. For example, accidentally bumping the television will turn it on, summoning the Janitor to the room.


The dinner party

The monstrous guests of the dinner party will enjoy their sumptuous feast in the dining hall, until they notice you skulking about. That’s when they’ll decide that you would be a much tastier meal instead (even though by relative size comparison, you’re more like a tiny morsel on their plate).


Though the dining guests are portrayed as obese creatures, they will fling themselves at the player and give chase with surprising speed, even crawling on their hands and knees to look for the player under surfaces. The white-masked Lady

The main antagonist of the game, the Lady appears as a somewhat Japanese-styled woman who glides gracefully and elegantly around, observing everything happening in the game. What makes her very creepy is her supernatural powers, being the only monster in the game to have any.

She can blend into the shadows and wait to pounce, blow out all the candles in hallways as she moves about, and even has telekinetic powers to lift the player and capture you.

One of the creepiest moments in the game is when you see the Lady’s reflection in a mirror without a mask, revealing her horribly deformed face.


When you chop off the Janitor’s hands

The Janitor is making a second appearance on this list, but for a different reason. For people who are squeamish about body injuries in general, it can be a bit disturbing when you chop off the Janitor’s hands by shutting the door on his outstretched arms.

His hands flop to the ground and you can hear his screams of pain through the doorway. It’s a definite wince moment for anyone who’s ever accidentally slammed their fingers in a door!

Using the elevator

As the entire game takes place in a sort of magical dollhouse nightmare, using the elevator is always a bit creepy. For one, it’s just a claustrophobic experience for anyone who hates small spaces. Number two, there’s always the possibility of the elevator door opening to reveal some new horror or monstrous creature waiting for you.
