For the Night Is dark : Blaze McRobb

18/4/2013
Picture
Blaze McRob has penned many titles under different names. It is time for him to come out and play as Blaze.

In addition to inclusions in numerous anthologies, he has written many novels, short stories, flash fiction pieces, and even poetry. Most of his offerings are Dark. However dark they might be, there is always an underlying message contained within.

Could you tell the readers a little bit about yourself?

I'm primarily a novel author, but the past couple years has seen me writing any number of short stories for inclusion in various anthologies. I also write Dark poetry. For many years, I was a ghost writer, churning out some seventy five novels for some of the best horror authors around. That was fun, but it's time to separate myself from that now.

Do you prefer the term  Horror, Weird Fiction or Dark Fiction?

I much prefer the term Horror. Horror can be fiction or non-fiction. As for the "Weird Fiction," it's not what I write. I'm a down and dirty writer of all things Dark, and you better believe that my pen to paper tales are stories meant to instill a message within my readers' minds. I go for the WTF aspect, the could this be true aspect of what my story people are whispering into the ears of those following my words.

Who are some of your favourite authors?

The great Poe! No one can come close to him. Hemingway, Twain, and Steinbeck are on my list. Clive Barker is a phenomenal author. Bucket Of Blood can not be compared to anything else out there. Some of the other famous Horror authors are not on my list here, some because I have ghosted for them and it would be unfair to say that they are among my favorites. Others, I just don't like. Art is subjective. There are many new authors on the scene that I love: Tim Marquitz, Mark Edward Hall, Joseph Pinto, and a slew of others.

I come now to a place not everyone is comfortable with. Women Horror Authors. Truth be told, the best Women Horror authors beat out most of the men in my estimation. Just a short list would include Belinda Frisch, Cindy Keen Reynders, Lori R. Lopez, Kathryn Meyer Griffith, Dina Rae, Suzanne Robb, Lisa McCourt Hollar, Carole Gill, B. E. Scully, Wendy Howard, Quinn Cullen, and sooo many others.Check out my Women In Horror ladies, which I'm still writing about on my blog @
blazemcrob.com.

Can you tell us anything about your story in the anthology?

My story, Eternal Darkness, covers deep, psychological horrors which blast my poor protagonist from many different angles. How many times do we humans get to a point where maybe just a little push could send us to a point of no return? That's what this tale is about.

What is the first thing that pops into your mind when someone says South African horror?

That's an easy question! Joe Mynhardt. For such a nice man, Joe can rip your guts out with his renderings of the Dark surrounding us. He is already a master at the craft, and we will be seeing much more of him!

Why did you decide to submit a story to this anthology?

Simply because Joe asked me. I am honored to be involved with any project of his that he wishes to have me on board with.

And other than yourself who would you like to see open and close the anthology?

Any one of the great authors involved with this fantastic anthology would be more than qualified. I don't believe that the placement of a story within a tome such as this is indicative of who is a better author. All of us are equal. No big heads with any of us.

Could you recommend one of your own stories to the readers?

I have some novels coming out this year that I thoroughly enjoyed writing. The Mists Of Papoose Pond, an online novel which will be published this year through Angelic Knight Press, has been optioned out to be a movie, coming out this Fall or next year. Also, ' 68 Buick will be published this year by Visionary Press Cooperative. This is the first in a series of Grim Reaper tales. Okay, that's two. So shoot me!

The Dark is coming! Call your friends over. You don't want to go through this alone. You will be taken back into the past, down to the depths of the ocean and across the borderline between our world and the next. You will see snapshots from the lives of small children, old-time cockney gangsters and aimless stoners. You will journey into the darkest house on the darkest street, wander hospital basements and take a flight in the comfort of first class. You will meet Mr Stix. This tome includes stories by some of the best horror writers around: G. N. Braun, Carole Johnstone, Armand Rosamilia, Daniel I. Russell, Scott Nicholson, Gary McMahon, Joe Mynhardt, Kevin Lucia, Tracie McBride, Stephen Bacon, Benedict J. Jones, Blaze McRob, John Claude Smith, Tonia Brown, Mark West, Robert W. Walker, Jeremy C. Shipp, Jasper Bark, William Meikle and Ray Cluley. Are you scared of the dark? You will be.
