"A fictional Dystopia is better than a fake Utopia." -- Robert Friedrich ROBERT FRIEDRICH Could you tell the readers a little bit about yourself? I’m Robert and I’m from Slovakia. My passion for Horror has been a part of me for as long as I can remember and since 2013 I decided to contribute to Horror and unleashed the darkness that lurked within me for so long. I write in many styles and themes because I myself like many various horror themes and sub-genres. Do you prefer the term Horror, Weird Fiction or Dark Fiction? Not really, I enjoy and write/read all of them. Who are some of your favourite authors? The top 3 on my list: Stephen King, Clive Barker and John W. Campbell Jr. Which fictional character would be you perfect neighbour, and who would be your nightmare neighbour? Pinhead from Hellraiser would be a perfect neighbour. Every day we would threaten one another with soul ripping. Freddy Krueger would be a nightmare neighbour for my nightmares would scare him so it would be his nightmare, not mine. What do you think of the current state of the genre? It’s vast, filled with a ton of greatness and blood. Some try more than others but I doubt that horror was ever as big as it is now. What was the last great book you read, and what was the last book that disappointed you? Last great book I enjoyed was Death Metal by Armand Rosamilia and well I can’t remember any book that really disappointed me. How would you describe your writing style? Paradigm. As I mentioned earlier I write in various styles. Each story and book has their own voice. Are there any reviews of your work, positive or negative that have stayed with you? The recent one I got for my first Novella; The Darkness Within from Reader’s Favourite. It is a really pleasing and positive review. What’s your favourite food? Grilled chicken and mashed potatoes. Who would be on the soundtrack to your life story? The technical death metal band NILE for sure. What’s the most important lesson you have learned about writing? It can be stressing, it can be nerve-breaking but it is worth it in the end. What aspects of writing to do you find the most difficult? I found editing the more difficult part, writing compared to the editorial process is really simple. How do you think you’ve evolved creatively? I believe I found my own voice and a higher confidence level than what I had when I began. What is the best piece of advice you ever received from another author? The same I myself give around; Never give up and believe in your work. Who is your favourite character from your book and why? Right now it’s Corey J. Phoenix from my latest book. Not only that he longed release for about 10 years, he also reminds me a little of me, well some of his traits. How about your least favourite character? What makes them less appealing to you? I don’t have one. Fame, fortune, or respect? Everything. What piece of your own work are you most proud of? I am proud of all my books and each one stands in a separate category so I do not compare them. But I guess I will always be the most proud of my First Novella. It’s a statement and it stands strong. And are there any pieces that you would like to forget about? Not that I published no. Can you tell us about your last book, and can you tell us about what you are working on next? My latest book is Seed of Evil: An Ancient Evil Rises and it’s the first book in an up-coming Saga. It’s a blend of Sci-fi/Military Horror with the elements of OCCULT. It’s a fast-paced and action packed book and I can’t wait to write the sequel to it. I am also working on my forth short story Anthology and two other Novellas/Novels. What's the one question you wish you would get asked but never do? Honestly, I can’t think of one. I have been asked everything already I think. A good point Ralph, but I believe people are going to have a hard time defending prejudice when the possibility of answering certain kinds of questions with much greater precision increases Comments are closed.
