Continuing this series of short interviews to celebrate the release of the new charity anthology For The Night is Dark, is an interview with GNOH favourite Gary McMahon Today’s victim is another favourite author of mine, Gary MacMahon. Gary is the in my opinion one of the leading lights in UK horror. His stories are terrifying and emotional power houses that stay with you long after you have finished the book. Today’s victim is Daniel I Russell. Daniel I. Russell has been featured publications such as The Zombie Feed from Apex, Pseudopod and Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine. He was nominated for two Tin Duck Awards in 2011 for best novel and best short story, and again in 2012 for best short story. Author of Samhane, Come Into Darkness, Critique, The Collector Book 1: Mana Leak and Mother's Boys, Daniel is also the current vice-president of the Australian Horror Writers' Association and special guest editor of Midnight Echo. I am very honoured to have the extremely talented author Richard Thomas over for an in depth interview. Richard is the author of three books, Transubstantiate (Otherworld Publications, 2010) a neo-noir, speculative thriller, and two collections, Herniated Roots (Snubnose Press, 2012) and Staring Into the Abyss (Kraken Press, 2013). He received his MFA from Murray State University in 2012. He was the winner of the ChiZine Publications “Enter the World of Filaria” contest. His short story “Maker of Flight” was chosen by Filaria author Brent Hayward and Bram Stoker Award-Winning editor Brett Alexander Savory. It has since gone on to also win at Jotspeak, beating out over 200 entries. This short was based on the novel Filaria by Brent Hayward, published by ChiZine in 2009. He was also the winner of the 2011 Cafe Doom / One Buck Horror contest, for his short story “Wicker Park Pause.” He has been nominated for five Pushcart prizes, as well as awarded a writing residency at Writers in the Heartlandin 2011, and participation in the Flying House co-op, resulting in a grant from Poets & Writers magazine, in 2012 Today’s victim in this series of interviews is Carole Johnstone. Carole's first published story appeared in Black Static #3 in early 2008. Since then she has sold numerous short stories to magazines and anthologies in both the US and the UK, including PS Publishing, Black Static, Apex and Morrigan Books. She is to be published in Ellen Datlow's forthcoming Best Horror of the Year, Vol. 2. Her first novella, Frenzy, was published by Eternal Press/ Damnation Books in August 2009. Richard Gavin is widely regarded as a master of esoteric horror fiction in the tradition of Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood, and H.P. Lovecraft. His work has appeared in The Best Horror of the Year, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, and the Black Wings anthologies. His books include Charnel Wine, Omens, The Darkly Splendid Realm, and At Fear's Altar. S.T. Joshi calls Richard Gavin "one of the bright new stars of contemporary weird fiction." Richard has also published criticism in venues such as Dead Reckonings as well as essays on Nightside occultism in venues such as Starfire Journal. His column "Echoes from Hades" can be found on the acclaimed website The Teeming Brain. Armand Rosamilia is a New Jersey boy currently living in sunny Florida, where he writes when he's not watching zombie movies, the Boston Red Sox and listening to Heavy Metal music... Besides the "Miami Spy Games" zombie spy thriller series, he has the "Keyport Cthulhu" horror series, several horror novellas and shorts to date, as well as the "Dying Days" series: Highway To Hell...
